No special care is needed, but if used seasonally outdoors, bring them inside during extreme weather to prolong their life and appearance. They can be used outdoors in dry, covered areas, but prolonged exposure to rain or freezing temperatures may cause cracking or damage.
Terracotta vases are often porous unless sealed on the inside, so they may not be suitable for holding water unless specifically treated for it.
The unglazed base of terracotta can be slightly rough, so it’s a good idea to place a felt pad or cloth underneath when using on delicate surfaces.
These vases are usually stable due to their weight and wide base, but using heavier filler or positioning them against a wall can add extra support.
